Faith and Good Medicine in Hectic Capiznon Bloggers 2009, We live in a day when more is being said about health and nutrition than ever before. In fact, we hear so many conflicting opinions that we hardly know what to believe.
According to the bible, our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and we have a special obligation to care for them. We should get adequate rest and proper nourishment and do everything possible to provide for our physical well being. One way to accomplish this is suggested in Proverbs 17:22, “A merry heart does good, like medicine.”
There’s a definite relationship between emotional contentment and good physical health. A happy or cheerful outlook on life does have therapeutic value, but that doesn’t just happen. True happiness or joy results from a right relationship with God and our fellowman.
Science and technology may have come up with medicines or drugs or machines to respond to sickness or diseases but according to Dr. Chen, an immunologist or the President of E. Excel, which the best defense against disease can be found in NUTRITION. She says that there is no better way to address the problem of sickness or disease but to preserve good health and strong immune system. - Which protects us from our enemy that will invade our body.
Dr. Chen stresses the need for preventive health care rather than treatment. She also emphasizes the importance of a balanced diet to achieve longer life. Illness shortens a person’s lifeline thus, nutrition is recommended as the best weapon against diseases.
Nutrition is serving unprocessed foods on the dining table. We don’t need to spend much in order to provide nutritious meal for our family. Nutrition also includes proper exercises, enough rest and emotional balance.
Dr. Chen’s last word of wisdom: IF NO ONE CAN INVENT DRUGS TO CURE MOST DISEASES AND NO ONE CAN CONTROL THE INCREASE OF POLLUTION and the SPREAD OF VIRUS, the choices left are: TO LEAD A LIFE THAT IS A QUICK SHORTCUT TO DEATH or TO SETTLE FOR A HEALTHY LIFE THAT COMES FROM A BALANCED DIET, PROPER EXERCISE, ENOUGH REST AND A STABLE EMOTIONAL STATUS.
How grateful we can be for medical advances that improve the quality of our lives and give us more years God. But let us always remember that WITH or WTHOUT medicine, God is the source of all healing.
